“Verified Accounts” – Another new feature from the Twitter group striking this summer.
In response to the increasing number of complaints regarding fake tweets sent by imposters the company’s co founder Biz Stone has decided to come up with a new feature that will come as beta feature this summer. This new feature will be named as the “Verified Accounts” and the feature will test the originality of the person and will prevent impersonation. They verified accounts will hold a special seal that will confirm that they belong to the person who claims the profile.
Earlier there have been an increasing number of complaints that fake tweets are being sent and once such lawsuit was raised by St. Louis Cardinal’s manager Tony La Russa. Russa had filed a lawsuit stating that these fake tweets have given him mental stress and also added that they were “disparaging and disgracing”.
Stone replied to the press that lawsuits like this are only a waste of the judicial resources as Twitter’s term and conditions are pretty strong and these cases will never go against their team. He also added that however, there have been areas of improvement for Twitter and the team will move forward to avoid these situations. In this regard, there will be a new feature that will be targeting the audience this summer as a beta feature. This feature will be named “verified accounts” and this will start at a smaller level considering the availability of the resources.
