Offered in two languages viz the English and Brazilian Portuguese, the Microsoft Security Essentials would run on windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and will be available in the U.S. and Brazil.

Later this year a beta version in simplified Chinese is expected to be released. This software would monitor the programs in the PC. If any changes say any downloads happen then it would be monitored by this service, and checked against the malware signatures.

If it appears to be a malware it would be stopped downloading. If no such signatures appear, then the system would find out if any new signatures are available in the Dynamic Signature Service available on a server, if so then the malware would be removed. If not then the DSS service would be updated with the new malware signature.
