RIM aims to cross categories with BlackBerry Tour
Research In Motion (RIM) has decided to add yet another Smartphone to its BlackBerry lineup in a motive to win market share among executive and the mainstream consumers. The company has taken this decision even in the tough economic conditions with the hope that this phone will be “big step forward” and will win many consumers for RIM.
The new model is named as the Blackberry Tour and it falls in between the BlackBerry Curve and the BlackBerry Bold. RIM’s co-Chief executive Jim Balsillie said to the Reuters that this new device will soon launch in the United States with Verizon and Sprint and in Canada with Telus and BEC’s Bell Unit.
Though the new device is not different in its appearance from the BlackBerry Curve it has the familiar candy-bar shape with a full keyboard. RIM also calls this a “world phone” which means that one can easily access voice and data services on networks outside their home country.
