Facebook to provide personalised URLs
Now the Facebook users will be able to pick their own usernames as the website is going to unveil its personliased URLs.
It indicates that you will soon be able to pick the name that you want to add in the end of www.facebook.com/ so it can easier for your friends and followers to find you out on Facebook via your search account.
At present, the unique ID of some user is consisted of some randomly picked numbers strings which are not quite easy to remember and most of the users find these numbers absolutely useless.
Right now the social networking has nearly 22m members, and it is expected that these numbers would see a considerable boost after these personalised URLs.
You will be able to register your call sign from Saturday and these names to be offered on first come and first served basis.
The social networking site has also posted this warning on its blog: “You must give proper consideration before picking any username, as you will not be allowed to change it if once you have picked that and you can’t even transfer it.
“Those users, who have signed up for this page after May 31 or will get a user profile after today, couldn’t sign up for a username instantly.”
Facebook online community has widely praised this move of providing free personalised URLs. The blog post has already received nearly 27,000 comments and we can expect a busy Saturday for Facebook users.
